DISCURSO DE APERTURA DE Mr Tomas Eriksson Presidente de IFF

FOREWORD BY MR TOMAS ERIKSSON, IFF PRESIDENT

Dear Floorball friends,

The Floorball family has a busy week ahead with two simultaneously organised European Qualifications going on at the same time in Spain and in Italy. Spain and Italy are two very vital countries in Sports in general and in Floorball particularly being among the labelled “big five in Europe in sports”.

A total of 32 teams have registered for the 11th Women´s World Floorball Championships 2017 - a new record. Four countries will make their debut at this level - Ukraine, Iran, Thailand & China. For Ukraine, Iran and China this will be the first-ever international appearance for their women´s team, while Thailand will be hoping to follow up from their strong international start at the 2015 SEA Games, where they finished second to Singapore. Slovenia, Austria, Korea & Malaysia are all returning after a break of several years from competing at this level.

The prospects and developments in Europe in Floorball looks very good. IFF today consists of 64 members, and Europe can be considered the engine in the growth. Here it is vital that Europe now moves from quantity to quality, and stressing the necessity of affiliating to our respective National Olympic Committee and Sports Confederation soonest, in order to take a much bigger place in national sports movement.

Concerning multi-sport events Floorball is successfully now on the World Games in July 2017 in Poland, in the city of Wroclaw. Six teams are taking part on the medal tally. Looking a bit longer ahead we will work together towards the 2021 World Games, being awarded to Birmingham, Alabama in the USA. Here all stakeholders must start the planning together with the IFF in order to be prosperous and join the WG in Birmingham 2021. It is very vital to state that for the 2017 World Games in Poland, where Floorball will be on the medal tally with six teams, it was important that team USA qualified, this will enable even closer co-operation between all stakeholders and put the Americas in conjunction with the World Games on the map. The World Games is not vital only for the six participating teams, but for all 64 IFF members! And hence IFF has together with the top ten countries laid down a strategy and a so-called activation plan on the road to Wroclaw, in order to get full houses, well promoted World Games and a very good outcome for Floorball in Wroclaw in order to be established not only on the WG Program but on other multisport events as well.

The IFF conveys our gratitude to the capital city of Madrid, and to the Spanish Floorball Federation, with its good management, for your support and commitment.

On behalf of the entire Floorball family, I greet all the participants; athletes, officials, volunteers, spectators, sponsors and co-operating partners and the representatives of media, heartily welcome to the European Qualifications in Madrid for the Women´s WFC.

Looking forward to thrilling matches

Tomas Eriksson

IFF President

DISCURSO DE BIENVENIDA DE D. Juan A: Roldán, Presidente de AEUF.

Estimados amigos,
